General

What does QRA Corp do?

QRA’s mission is to accelerate the design process and reduce costs across industries building the most complex, mission and safety-critical systems.

QRA achieves this mission by building design verification solutions that analyze complex systems and requirements at the most crucial stages of development – enabling engineers to author better requirements, detect design errors, and build with confidence.

QVtrace and QVscribe are QRA’s flagship solutions that provide customers with highly sophisticated analysis, and insight backed by decades of research.

QVscribe

What is QVscribe?

QVscribe is an Add-in for Microsoft Word and Excel that performs best-practices quality analysis, terminology consistency analysis, unit consistency analysis, and requirement similarity analysis on each individual requirement to help improve the clarity, consistency, and quality of requirements and technical documentation.

The combined analysis results enable the user to rapidly hone in on problematic requirements and see highlighted within them any inconsistent terminology that could lead to problems down the road. QVscribe has a strong focus on simplicity, usability, and integration to provide the most useful analysis information without disrupting or cluttering the user’s workflow.

What does QVscribe do?

QVscribe helps teams write clear requirements in less time. QVscribe scores individual requirements for clarity and improves the overall consistency of entire documents.

The QVscribe analysis runs entirely on individual workstations and is accessed within MS Word and MS Excel as an MS Office plug-in. QVscribe for Teams includes a server application to share licenses and configurations across the network.

Who would benefit from using QVscribe?

QVscribe’s key disciples are business analysis and project management, procurement teams, large multi-team projects, and engineers. Whether you are enforcing industry standards in the early project stages, collaborating across multiple teams, or ensuring correctness and indexing of domain-specific terminology, QVscribe makes the requirements analysis process more efficient.

How does QVscribe analyze requirements?

QVscribe allows users to automatically analyze their requirements. The tool finds ambiguities, inconsistencies, and violations of best practices and generates actionable reports. These reports can then be used to improve clarity and consistency, therefore reducing quality review cycles and rework.

QVscribe has proven to reduce time and cost by 75% or more. QVscribe provides quality analysis and warnings, unit and term consistency analysis, requirements similarity analysis, and generates configurable analysis reports to share with your team.

Is QVscribe a requirements management tool?

QVscribe is not a requirements management tool, it is an analysis tool. QVscribe analyzes the actual terminology and sentence structure of textual requirements and provides quality scores and guidance to help improve their clarity and consistency.

What type of analysis does QVscribe do on requirements?

QVscribe focuses on the detection and quality analysis of requirements in a document. In its current version QVscribe automatically runs the following analyses:

Quality analysis: Scores each requirement on a scale from 1 to 5 using best practices guidelines. Any terminology causing problems in a requirement is shown highlighted.

Consistency analysis: The terminology and units in each requirement are scanned, enumerated, categorized, and listed.

Similarity analysis: All requirements are analyzed against each other for a degree of similarity. The similarities for each requirement are enumerated and listed.

Can I customize QVscribe to fit my business requirements?

Yes, QVscribe is set up to recognize certain terms as ambiguous, but this can be updated within your QVscribe configurations to fit your team’s needs.

What software can QVscribe integrate with?

QVscribe currently integrates with Microsoft Word and Microsoft Excel.

Can QVscribe analyze PDF documents?

Users can open PDF documents in Microsoft Word or Excel and analyze them there.

Is QVscribe available for Mac?

At this time, QVscribe is only available on Microsoft for Windows.

What are the system requirements for installing QVscribe?

QVscribe is an Add-in (plugin) for Microsoft Office with the following prerequisites for installation:

● Microsoft Windows version 7,8.1, or 10

● Microsoft Office version 2007, 2010, 2013, or 2016

● Visual Studio 2010 Tools for Office Runtime, and Visual C++ 2010 Runtime.

Note: The installer will automatically determine if these Runtime Environments are present in your system and if necessary, it will ask to automatically download and install them prior to the QVscribe installation.

What data will be accessed through QVscribe for Teams?

The QVscribe for Teams server application uses Microsoft Active Directory for user management. The only personal information accessed by QVscribe is the users’ credentials in Active Directory. These are used to manage licenses, but the personal information is not accessible on the local workstations and is not communicated back to QRA.

The application to be installed on the individual workstations will access .csv .xlsx or .docx requirements documents. Requirements that are written using MS Word and MS Excel can also be analyzed. QVscribe’s analysis runs entirely on the local workstation and the results are displayed within MS Word and MS Excel. QVscribe reads and analyzes the documents but does not store, change, or transmit any data.
